1998 SESSION
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 2.1-7.4 as follows:
§ 2.1-7.4. Electronic filing of information permitted in executive branch agencies.
Upon providing protection to preserve security and confidentiality, the agencies responsible to the Secretary of Administration pursuant to § 2.1-51.27, Secretary of Commerce and Trade pursuant to § 2.1-51.40, Secretary of Education pursuant to § 2.1-51.21, Secretary of Finance pursuant to § 2.1-51.34, Secretary of Health and Human Resources pursuant to § 2.1-51.15, Secretary of Natural Resources pursuant to § 2.1-51.9, Secretary of Public Safety pursuant to § 2.1-51.18, and Secretary of Transportation pursuant to § 2.1-51.43 may (i) accept the electronic filing of any information required or permitted to be filed with such agency and (ii) prescribe the methods of executing, recording, reproducing, and certifying electronically filed information; however, the provisions of this section shall not apply to any information required or permitted to be filed pursuant to the Virginia Public Procurement Act (§ 11-35 et seq.).
