SUMMARY:
Child support; distribution. Requires the Department of Social Services beginning on or before January 1, 1998, to distribute payments it receives from child support obligors within two business days. The two-day rule will apply only when the Department has available sufficient information to identify the payee. The Department is to work with the State Treasurer to develop procedures to ensure that these prompt distributions can be made. The bill also requires that the Comptroller report to the Chairmen of the Courts of Justice Committees on transactional time between receipt of funds by DSS from the payor and payment to the payee.
