1997 SESSION
HB 2680 Child support enforcement; license suspension.
Introduced by: David G. Brickley | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Child support enforcement; license suspension. Authorizes the Department of Social Services to seek suspension of a person's motor vehicle, occupational or recreational license for a failure to comply with a summons, warrant or subpoena issued in a child support or paternity proceeding.
Social security numbers or unique control numbers issued by DMV will be required of all applicants for occupational and marriage licenses. Additionally, death certificates, court records in divorce cases and DSS records in administrative support cases must include each party's social security number or control number.
These provisions are mandated by the federal Welfare Reform Act.
The bill also clarifies that a restricted driver's license issued to a person whose license is suspended authorizing a person to drive in the course of his employment cannot be used as a substitute for a commercial driver's license.
