Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That any existing hotel or motel in any city with a population greater than 350,000 which is required to install an automatic sprinkler system meeting the requirements of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, Volume I, 1987 Edition, Second Amendment (effective March 1, 1990) for Use Group R-1, shall install such automatic sprinkler system on or before September 1, 1997.

2. That an emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
