SUMMARY:

Department of Housing and Community Development; Uniform Statewide Building Code. Extends the deadline by which existing hotels and motels which are over three stories in height must install an automatic sprinkler system meeting Uniform Statewide Building Code requirements for Use Group R-1 from March 1, 1997, to September 1, 1997. The initial HCD regulation directing this action was enacted on March 1, 1990, and provided seven years (until March 1, 1997) for compliance. The bill contains an emergency clause and is effective upon its passage.
