SENATE BILL NO. 1174 AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by the Senate Committee on Education and Health on January 30, 1997) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Senator Saslaw) A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 54.1-2400.01, relating to the definition of laser surgery.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 54.1-2400.01 as follows:

§ 54.1-2400.01. Certain definition.

As used in this subtitle, "Laser surgery" means treatment through revision, destruction, incision or other structural alteration of human tissue using laser technology. The use of diagnostic lasers for diagnostic purposes only shall not be included in this definition.
