Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 38.2 -2112.1 as follows:

§ 38.2-2112.1. Criteria for determination of cancellation or refusal to renew an insurance policy.

A. All insurance companies operating in the Commonwealth shall make available, upon request, a written copy of the criteria used by the insurance company when determining whether to cancel or refuse to renew an insurance policy.

B. All insurance companies operating in the Commonwealth shall provide a written copy of the criteria used by the company when determining whether to cancel or refuse to renew an insurance policy to each policyholder at the time of the insurer's first response to the first claim filed by the insured.
