970799297Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 18.2-138.1 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 18.2-138.1. Willful and malicious damage to or defacement of public or private facilities; penalty.
Any county, city or town may by ordinance make unlawful the willful and malicious damage to or defacement of any public or private buildings, facilities and personal property [ if the damage to the property is less than $1,000 ] . The penalty for violation of such ordinance shall be a Class 1 misdemeanor.
