Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 11-48.1 as follows:

§ 11-48.1. Priority consideration for AFDC recipients in certain contracts.

State contracts in an amount in excess of $200,000 shall contain a provision [ requiring requesting ] the contractor to give priority consideration in filling vacancies in positions funded by the contract, to Virginia recipients of aid to families with dependent children (AFDC) who possess the skills necessary to perform the work required by the contract.

[ The Department of General Services shall, with the advice of the Department of Social Services, adopt regulations to implement this section. ]
