964921464Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 1 of Chapter 6 of Title 24.2 a section numbered 24.2-611.1 as follows:
24.2-611.1. Simulated elections for minors.
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Secretary of the State Board Elections may authorize, in one or more precincts, a State Board approved program allowing persons under the age of eighteen to enter the polling place and vote in a simulated election held at the same time as a general election. Any person supervising or working in a simulated election in which minors vote shall be allowed in a polling place during the period the polls are open. Any minor voting in a simulated election who is under the age of fourteen shall be accompanied into the polling place by a parent, guardian, or other person eighteen years or older. The cost of conducting a simulated election pursuant to this section shall not be borne by the state or the county, city or town.
