HB 702 Elections; simulated elections for minors.

Introduced by: Robert Tata (by request) | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Elections; simulated elections for minors. Authorizes the Secretary of the State Board of Elections to approve a program to allow simulated elections for minors at the polls during general elections. The bill stipulates that the cost of these simulated elections will not be borne by the state or localities. Establishing mock elections is part of a program known as "Kids Voting USA Network" which combines classroom voter education and simulated elections to educate children about the importance of an informed electorate and of voting itself to sustain democracy. It is anticipated that more than 40 states and the District of Columbia will be part of the Kids Voting USA Network in time for the 1996 presidential election.
