HJ 455 Study; telemedicine.

Introduced by: William C. Mims | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Study; telemedicine technology. Requests the Joint Commission on Health Care to, in consultation with the Council on Information Management and the Department of Information Technology, study the use of telemedicine technology. Telemedicine uses computers, television, cameras, and phone lines to provide instant consultation and diagnostic evaluation for patients in another location. The use of the technology saves money in travel, decreases the number of injuries resulting from travel accidents while seeking medical care, allows heretofore improbable consultation with experts, and allows rural health facilities to remain open, thereby increasing accessibility and decreasing costs.
