1995 SESSION
WHEREAS, the United States is a nation of eight million cancer survivors, including tens of thousands of Virginians who have survived this deadly disease; and
WHEREAS, more people are being diagnosed with cancer than ever before; and
WHEREAS, our growing understanding of the causes of cancer holds the promise of developing new improvements in its treatment; and
WHEREAS, on Sunday, June 11, 1995, Virginia Commonwealth University's Massey Cancer Center will honor those who have survived cancer and celebrate this day with cancer survivors and their families; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby designate June 11, 1995, as Cancer Survivors' Day in Virginia; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the General Assembly encourage the citizens of the Commonwealth to seek early recognition and prompt treatment, with the realization that cancer can be survived.
