AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE

A BILL to provide for the purchase and dispensing of controlled substances by the Williamsburg Area Medical Assistance Corporation.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1.That the Williamsburg Area Medical Assistance Corporation, upon its creation as a private nonprofit organization pursuant to § 501 (c) (3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, shall be able to purchase controlled substances pursuant to the regulations of the Department of General Services governing such purchases the same as local health departments, and to dispense controlled substances consistent with the requirements of Chapters 33 (§ 54.1-3300 et seq.) and 34 (§ 54.1-3400 et seq.) of Title 54.1.

§ 2. The Williamsburg Area Medical Assistance Corporation shall be authorized to accept the volunteer services of any licensed physician, licensed pharmacist, registered or licensed practical nurse, or other health care provider, and to apply for, accept, or expend gifts or donations from public or private sources to enable the organization to execute its objectives.
