Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 16.1-241.2 as follows:
§ 16.1-241.2. Proceedings against uncooperative parent.
A parent, guardian or other person having control of a child, who refuses or fails to cooperate or participate in programs or school recommendations designed to resolve student behavior problems involving weapons, alcohol, other drugs or assaults, may be proceeded against by the school authorities upon proper documentation. If the court finds that the parent, guardian or other person having control of the child unreasonably failed or refused to cooperate or participate as alleged in the petition, it may find the parent, guardian or other person guilty of a Class 4 misdemeanor.
