A Bill to allow incidental on-farm sales of pasteurized goat milk; penalty.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. Incidental sales and delivery of pasteurized goat milk directly to consumers at the farm where the milk is produced shall (i) meet the standards for pasteurization of milk established by regulation by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and (ii) be subject to on-farm inspections by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Any person violating a provision of this section may be assessed a civil penalty by the Board of Agriculture and Consumer Services in an amount not to exceed $100 per violation.

The provisions of this section shall expire on July 1, 1998.
