SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Disclosure of data breach of government electronic information. Requires the Chief Information Officer of the Commonwealth to include in the policies, procedures, and standards required to be developed for the protection of confidential data maintained by state agencies requirements for prompt notification of affected citizens of the Commonwealth in the event of a breach of the security of state government electronic information from unauthorized uses, intrusions, or other security threats, which breach compromises such citizens' personal information. The bill defines personal information. The bill also broadens the definition of the terms "government" and "governmental subdivisions" contained in the breach of personal information notification law to include any entity, public or private, that contracts for the operation of a system of personal information to accomplish an agency function.
