Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  § 1. Opening of the school year in the City of Martinsville, Henry County, and Pittsylvania County.

Notwithstanding the provisions of § 22.1-79.1 of the Code of Virginia, the school boards of the City of Martinsville, Henry County, and Pittsylvania County school divisions may set the school calendar so that the first day students are required to attend school is prior to Labor Day.
