11102158DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 36-99.5:2 as follows:
§ 36-99.5:2. Accessible routes connecting parking to building entrances for persons with disabilities.
The Board shall promulgate regulations in accordance with the Administrative Process Act (§ 2.2-4000 et seq.) requiring existing buildings or facilities to have at least one accessible route connecting accessible parking and accessible passenger loading zones to an accessible entrance of the building or facility. Such standards (i) shall apply regardless of the date of construction of the parking lot, loading zone, or building or facility and (ii) may include reasonable exemptions from such requirements as deemed appropriate by the Board.
