H.B. 1442 Standard diploma; requirements to include one concentration in career and technical education.

Graduation requirements; standard diploma. Expands the requirements for earning a standard diploma to include a career and technical education two credit sequence of courses.
H.B. 1727 School boards; policies concerning noncurriculum-related student organizations.

Local school board; student organizations. Requires that local school boards either provide notice and an opportunity for parents or legal guardians to opt their children out of participation in any school-sponsored club or organization or require the prior express written permission of parents or legal guardians to be filed with the school before any student may be a member of a school-sponsored club. This bill incorporates HB 3047 (Cole).
H.B. 2039 Technical diploma; Board of Educ. to establish requirements thereof in career and technical educ.

Technical diploma in career and technical education. Requires the Board of Education to establish requirements for a technical diploma in career and technical education, comprised of 22 total credits as follows: (i) four credits in English, one of which must be in technical writing or reading; (ii) three credits in mathematics; (iii) three credits in laboratory science; (iv) three credits in history and social sciences; (v) one credit in the fine or practical arts; (vi) two credits in health or physical education; and (vii) six credits in career and technical education. Of the 22 total credits, a total of six verified units of credit must be required to earn the standard diploma in career and technical education.
H.B. 2302 Nonpublic schools; school boards may enter into agreements therewith for transportation services.

Transportation services for nonpublic schools. Permits local school boards to enter into agreements with nonpublic schools in the school division to provide student transportation for a fee to and from the nonpublic schools.
H.B. 2556 Textbooks in public schools; availability for home use.
Patron: Frederick
Textbooks; availability for home use. Provides that each local school division shall, in providing textbooks and workbooks free of charge for each child attending public schools, ensure that such textbooks and workbooks are available in sufficient quantity to provide each student an individual copy that may be used at home.
H.B. 3201 Students removed from classes; parental notification if removed for 2 or more consecutive days.

Removal of students from classes. Requires parental notification when a student, including those with an Individual Education Plan, has been denied instructional services as a result of being removed from class for two or more consecutive days.
