SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Distribution of handbills, etc., on certain highways. Allows the Town of Vienna by ordinance to prohibit or regulate (i) the distribution of handbills, leaflets, bulletins, literature, advertisements, or similar material to, (ii) the solicitation of contributions from, and (iii) the sale of merchandise to the occupants of motor vehicles on highways. The bill also allows Albemarle and Greene Counties by ordinance to prohibit or regulate (i) the distribution of handbills, leaflets, bulletins, literature, advertisements, or similar material to, (ii) the solicitation of contributions from, and (iii) the sale of merchandise to the occupants of motor vehicles on public roadways and medians.

Prohibition of certain activities on highways. Allows local governing bodies to regulate solicitations and distribution of materials in roadways and medians of public highways. Incorporated in HB 1859 (Shannon).

Prohibition of certain activities on highways. Adds Albemarle and Greene Counties to the list of those counties currently authorized to prohibit distribution of handbills, solicitation of contributions and similar activities on highways.
