047113732Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 22.1-296.01 as follows:
§ 22.1-296.01. Written contracts required.
A written contract shall be made by the school board with each person who is (i) employed on a full-time or part-time basis for a term of at least 10 months and (ii) not required to hold a license issued by the Board of Education. Written notice of the offer of such employment shall be given to such persons not more than 10 days after the first regular school board meeting following the approval of the school board budget by the appropriating body. Nothing in this section shall be construed as prohibiting a school board from employing persons not required to be licensed by the Board of Education on an at-will basis.
