Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 36-99.10:2 as follows:

§ 36-99.10:2. Standards for separation distances between single-family homes.

The Board of Housing and Community Development shall promulgate regulations by October 1, 2003, for establishment of performance-based standards in accordance with National Fire Protection Association Standards # 80A for separation distances between single-family homes and property lines to promote and enhance public safety.
