SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Governor; severance benefit for appointed officials. Provides that the Governor, in his discretion, may provide gubernatorial appointees a severance benefit no greater than an amount equivalent to two weeks of salary for every consecutive year of service in the appointed position, not to exceed a total of 16 weeks of salary. The bill does not apply to officials removed from office for malfeasance, misfeasance, incompetency, misconduct, neglect of duty, absenteeism, conflicts of interests, failure to carry out the polices of the Commonwealth as established in the Constitution or by the General Assembly, or refusal to carry out a lawful directive of the Governor.
