SUMMARY AS PASSED:

Fire Prevention Code; enforcement by locality. Allows localities to enforce only those provisions of the State Fire Prevention Code regarding open burning, fire lanes, fireworks, and hazardous materials. Existing law provides that a locality may elect to enforce the provisions of the Fire Prevention Code; however, if a locality chooses to do so, it must enforce the provisions of the Fire Prevention Code in their entirety.

SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:

Fire Prevention Code; enforcement by locality. Allows Greene County (described by population) to enforce only those provisions of the State Fire Prevention Code regarding open burning and allows it to enforce those provisions in all or in any designated geographic areas of its jurisdiction. The existing statute provides that a locality may elect to enforce the provisions of the Fire Prevention Code; however, if a locality chooses to do so, it must enforce the provisions of the Fire Prevention Code in their entirety.
