SUMMARY:

Certain town elections; postponement and rescheduling. Provides for the May 1994 election for town council members if the town adopted a post-annexation redistricting ordinance by December 15, 1993. (The general law deadline is November 15 under § 24.2-312 D.) The bill also provides for the rescheduling of the May 1994 town elections in any town which has annexed territory since the preceding town election and has not received notice, on or before April 8, 1994, from the Attorney General of the United States under § 5 of the Voting Rights Act that the post-annexation redistricting may be implemented.
