Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 2 of Title 32.1 an article numbered 20, consisting of a section numbered 32.1-73.18, as follows:

Article 20. End Stage Renal Disease Patient Navigator Network.

§ 32.1-73.18. End Stage Renal Disease Patient Navigator Network.

The Department shall establish the End Stage Renal Disease Patient Navigator Network to assist persons diagnosed with end stage renal disease in navigating through the health care system. Navigators may include trained medical professionals, social workers, and persons who have undergone end stage renal disease care. Navigators shall assist patients with treatment choice, finances, insurance, and patient education and shall advocate for the patient within the patient's care team. The Department may contract with other entities to establish the End State Renal Disease Patient Navigator Network and to provide services to qualified patients.
