GOVERNOR'S VETO

Pursuant to Article V, Section 6, of the Constitution of Virginia, I veto Senate Bill 508, which transfers the administration of the Virginia Community Flood Preparedness Fund to the Soil and Water Conservation Board.

My administration continues to develop and advance a comprehensive and coordinated resiliency effort to complete the Commonwealth’s long-delayed environmental projects. This legislation will have the unintended consequence of fragmenting our coastal resiliency efforts.

Accordingly, I veto this bill.

I approve the general purpose of this bill, but I am returning it without my signature with the request that the attached Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute (22108073D) be accepted.
