Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 24.2-947.4:2 as follows:

§ 24.2-947.4:2. Prohibited contributions to candidates; public service corporation.

No candidate, campaign committee, political committee, or political party committee shall solicit or accept a contribution from any public service corporation, nor shall a public service corporation make any such contribution.

For the purposes of this section, "public service corporation" means any public service corporation as defined in § 56-1 that is not a telecommunications or telephone company, a motor vehicle common carrier, or a railroad company. "Public service corporation," as used in this section, includes any subsidiary or parent company of such a public service corporation, or any political committee established thereunder.
