20104786DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 33 of Title 2.2 a section numbered 2.2-3323 as follows:
§ 2.2-3323. Juneteenth.
The nineteenth day of June of each year shall be recognized as Juneteenth in commemoration of the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas, the last of the former Confederate States of America to abolish slavery, and in recognition of the significant roles and many contributions of African Americans to the Commonwealth and the nation.
