SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Ascertaining citizenship of person taken into custody at a jail. Provides that a sheriff or other officer in charge of a jail shall only inquire as to the citizenship of a person taken into custody at the jail if such person's criminal history information includes a prior conviction for a felony offense or an offense that is the basis for the initiation of removal proceedings by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Under current law, an inquiry must be made into the citizenship of every person taken into custody at a jail.
