SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Safety inspections; appointments. Allows any motor vehicle inspection station to accept appointments for safety inspections in addition to accepting vehicles on a first-come, first-served basis, so long as at least one lane is reserved for the sole purpose of first-come, first-served safety inspections.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Safety inspections; appointments. Allows any motor vehicle inspection station to accept appointments for safety inspections and removes the requirement that inspections take place on first-come, first-served basis. Under current motor vehicle safety inspection rules and regulations, 19VAC30-70, a motor vehicle inspection station may accept appointments for safety inspections under certain conditions but only if it has at least one inspector and inspection lane that remain available for inspections on a first-come, first-served basis.
