SUMMARY AS PASSED: (all summaries)
Appointed counsel for parents or guardians. Requires court-appointed counsel for a parent or guardian of a child in cases of alleged abuse or neglect or termination of parental rights to be selected from the list of attorneys who qualify as guardians ad litem compiled and maintained by the Judicial Council of Virginia. If no attorney who is on the list is reasonably available or appropriate considering the circumstances of the parent or case, a judge in his discretion may appoint any discreet and competent attorney who is admitted to practice law in Virginia. This bill is identical to HB 671.
