SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Standards and programs of instruction; computer science and computational thinking. Requires the Standards of Learning established by the Board of Education and the program of instruction for grades kindergarten through 12 developed and implemented by each local school board to include computer science and computational thinking, including computer coding.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Board of Education; graduation requirements; computer science as foreign language. Requires the Board of Education, in establishing course and credit requirements for a high school diploma, to provide that the standard units of credit in foreign language required to graduate with an advanced studies diploma or a standard diploma may be satisfied by the successful completion of computer science courses.
