Commending the Historic Triangle Community Services Center.

WHEREAS, in 2014, the Historic Triangle Community Services Center in Williamsburg celebrates 20 years of serving local residents in need, while enriching the lives of all community members; and

WHEREAS, the Community Services Coalition, a nonprofit organization made up of concerned local citizens in the Williamsburg area, envisioned a center that could provide food, clothing, shelter, and career and personal counseling services in one location; and

WHEREAS, in 1994, the Historic Triangle Community Services Center opened in the former Williamsburg New Testament Church and housed 14 partner agencies; and

WHEREAS, the City of Williamsburg, the Counties of James City and York, the Williamsburg Community Health Foundation, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, and more than 500 individuals and businesses generously supported the Historic Triangle Community Services Center in its early days; and

WHEREAS, in 2014, the Historic Triangle Community Services Center partnered with the Peninsula Agency on Aging, RIDES program, Just by 5 Counseling Services, FISH, L&L Immigration Law, Community Services Referral Network, Community Action Agency, Head Start, Heart to Heart, Primerica, and Boxed Events and Entertainment; and

WHEREAS, the Historic Triangle Community Services Center has also hosted bingo and roller skating nights, weddings, birthdays, reunions, dances, job fairs, forums, and business workshops; and

WHEREAS, the Historic Triangle Community Services Center has hosted countless other community events and improved the quality of life of thousands of families and individuals in the City of Williamsburg, James City County, and York County; and

WHEREAS, the Historic Triangle Community Services Center celebrated its 20th anniversary with a variety of special events, such as a biweekly Lunch and Learn workshop; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Historic Triangle Community Services Center on the occasion of its 20th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Historic Triangle Community Services Center as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for its many contributions to the community.
