HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 561
Commending the Fredericksburg Christian School football team.

WHEREAS, the Fredericksburg Christian School football team celebrated an undefeated 2014 season by winning its first Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division III state championship; and

WHEREAS, the mighty Eagles defeated a talented squad from Christchurch School 70-19 in the championship game, which was held on November 15; the Fredericksburg Christian team had an 11-0 record for the season; and

WHEREAS, the home field advantage served the Fredericksburg Christian School Eagles well as running back Blair Lawson led the team with five touchdowns in the title matchup; and

WHEREAS, the players and coaches on the Fredericksburg Christian School team are strong, talented, and determined; their discipline has held them in good stead in the past few years, as the team was conference champion in 2011 and 2012; and

WHEREAS, the 2014 season was the first undefeated season for Tim Coleman, head coach of the Fredericksburg Christian School football team; the school’s competitive athletic program focuses on winning with integrity; and

WHEREAS, the mission of Fredericksburg Christian School is to provide a strong academic program to help students develop a lifelong Christian worldview; its high school is on one of the organization’s three campuses; and

WHEREAS, the Fredericksburg Christian School 2014 football championship is the result of hard work and dedication of all members of the football team and its coaches; the strong support of the entire school community also played a vital role; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Fredericksburg Christian School football team for winning the 2014 Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division III state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Tim Coleman, head coach of the Fredericksburg Christian School football team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations on achieving an undefeated season and state title.
