34.10. | New Construction: Hampton Roads Veterans Care Center (17957) | 0 | 0
The Governor is authorized to request federal funds to construct a
new veterans care center with up to 240 beds in the Hampton Roads area of
Virginia. After the United States Department of Veterans Affairs has
determined that federal funds will be allocated for the new center, the
Director, Department of Planning and Budget, shall approve a short-term,
interest-free treasury loan in the amount of $28,500,000 to the Department of
Veterans Services for the state share of the construction cost, so that the
project may proceed without further action by the Commonwealth, in accordance
with 38 CFR 59.50 and 38 CFR 59.70(b). The treasury loan shall be repaid by
such sources of funding as determined by the Governor and General Assembly.
The Director, Department of Planning and Budget, is authorized to sign and
certify any federal documents or forms to acknowledge that the state share of
funding for the Hampton Roads Veterans Care Center is available without further
action by the Commonwealth.
