SUMMARY AS PASSED: (all summaries)
Privatization of the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy. Requires the Director of the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy and the Board for Protection and Advocacy to establish a nonprofit organization to provide advocacy, legal, and ombudsman services to persons with disabilities in compliance with state and federal law no later than December 31, 2013, and eliminates the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy as of January 1, 2014. The bill also provides that employees of the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy who transition to employment with the nonprofit organization shall not be subject to the provisions of the Workforce Transition Act.
