SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE: (all summaries)
Special conservators of the peace; registration with DCJS. Requires all persons appointed or reappointed on or after July 1, 2015, as special conservators of the peace to register with the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). The bill requires that all applicants submit a temporary letter of qualification issued by DCJS and a background check performed by a state or local law-enforcement agency with their applications to the circuit court for appointment as a special conservator of the peace. This bill is a recommendation of the Virginia State Crime Commission.
