Status and Needs of African-American Males in Virginia. Continues the Joint Subcommittee Studying the Status and Needs of African-American Males in Virginia. The joint subcommittee is directed to complete its examination of issues and objectives enumerated in HJR 167 (1996), HJR 570 (1997), and SJR 189 (1998), and consider other relevant issues unearthed during its past investigations and reviews.

The joint subcommittee also is directed to assist and advise the Council on Minority Affairs, upon its creation, and to coordinate the transition of the joint subcommittee’s work to the Council at the end of its term to facilitate a comprehensive examination of the status of Virginia’s growing culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse minority populations.
