SUMMARY AS PASSED:

Adoption. Directs the Commission on Youth to study the desirability of reorganizing the Commonwealth's adoption laws. The Commission shall conduct a comprehensive review of Virginia's adoption laws and determine whether such laws can be rewritten and/or reorganized to give clear and consistent guidance to the persons using the laws.

SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:

Adoption. Creates a select committee of the Senate Committee for Courts of Justice and the House Committee for Courts of Justice to determine whether a comprehensive organizational revision of Virginia’s adoption laws is desirable.

Adoption. Creates a joint subcommittee to determine whether a comprehensive organizational revision of Virginia’s adoption laws is desirable.
