SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Exercise of eminent domain. Establishes a joint subcommittee to examine the current means and adequacy of compensation to Virginia citizens whose properties are taken through the exercise of eminent domain. The joint subcommittee shall study the methods by which such eminent domain is exercised and the means by which compensation is provided, and shall recommend whether current statutes are adequate to furnish the means and methods of compensation.

Study; exercise of eminent domain. Establishes a joint subcommittee to examine the current means and adequacy of compensation to Virginia citizens whose properties are taken pursuant to the exercise of eminent domain. While addressing this issue broadly, the study is essentially focused on properties taken by electric utilities for transmission line corridors.

Establishes a joint subcommittee to examine the current means and adequacy of compensation to Virginia citizens whose properties are taken pursuant to public utilities’ exercise of eminent domain. While addressing this issue broadly, the study is essentially focused on properties taken by electric utilities for transmission line corridors. The resolution establishes a 10-member subcommittee, and requires it to submit its findings and recommendations to the Governor and the 2000 Session of the General Assembly.
