SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Employment; critical shortage of qualified workers list. Requires the Virginia Employment Commission to determine and publish a list of jobs, trades, and professions for which a critical shortage of qualified workers exists or is projected. Economic forecasts and labor market projections for Virginia indicate resounding growth and economic boom for some segments of the economy while some segments may expect slow and declining activity. Publication of critical shortage areas for qualified workers will enable every segment of Virginia’s population to capitalize on the anticipated economic growth and influence the Commonwealth’s workforce trends for the millennium. This is a recommendation of the Joint Subcommittee Studying the Status and Needs of African-Americans in Virginia.
