SUMMARY AS PASSED: (all summaries)

Parent-peer programs. Encourages the Department of Education and the State Council of Higher Education to develop statewide “parent-peer” programs to assist parents in teaching other parents, particularly minority and poor parents, how to become actively involved in their children’s education and the life of the school, how to advocate for their children, how to help their children with school work and excel academically, and how to understand and navigate the public school process. This resolution is a recommendation of the Commission on Access and Diversity in Higher Education.
