SUMMARY AS PASSED: (all summaries)
Higher education; reduced tuition and fees. Directs the governing bodies of all public institutions of higher education to reduce, by 20 percent, tuition and mandatory educational and general fees in effect on June 30, 1999, for in-state undergraduate students for the year beginning July 1, 1999, and ending June 30, 2000. The Governor is to include in his budget submitted to the General Assembly sufficient funds to reimburse each public institution of higher education for the reduction in tuition and mandatory fees. This bill is similar, but not identical, to SB 1337.
