SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Transient occupancy tax; increase in certain counties. Allows Franklin County, defined by population brackets, to increase the transient occupancy tax from two percent to five percent. The additional tax revenues from the portion of the rate over two percent must be spent for tourism initiatives as determined in consultation with local tourism industry organizations.
SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Transient occupancy tax; increase in certain counties. Allows any county with a population of no less than 39,000 and no greater than 39,560 (Franklin County) to increase the transient occupancy tax from two percent to five percent with the additional three percent to be used for promoting tourism within the locality imposing the tax.
