Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 15.2-1605.1 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 15.2-1605.1. Supplementing compensation of certain county and city officers and their employees.

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the governing body of any county or city, in its discretion, may supplement the compensation of the sheriff, treasurer, commissioner of the revenue, clerk of the circuit court, director of finance, or attorney for the Commonwealth, or any of their deputies or employees, [ or the deputies or employees of clerks of the circuit court, ] above the salary of any such officer, deputy or employee [ established in this title ] , in such amounts as it may deem expedient. Such additional compensation shall be wholly payable from the funds of any such county or city.
