Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 22.1-207.01 as follows:

§ 22.1-207.01. School enrollment required for participation in extracurricular activities.

As a condition for participation in extracurricular activities sponsored by a public school, a student shall be enrolled full time in the public schools of the school division and shall meet the guidelines and regulations established by the school board, which shall provide for, among other things, school board waivers of such full-time enrollment requirement in cases in which the extracurricular activity is directly related to the course or program of instruction in which the student is enrolled.
