Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 20-14.2 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted and that the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 32.1-69.1:1 as follows:

§ 20-14.2. Health information to be furnished to applicants for license.

Every person who is empowered to issue a marriage license shall, at the time of issuance thereof, distribute the following to the applicants for the license,: birth control information, information concerning genetic disorders, information concerning birth defects, information concerning acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and the available tests to determine the presence or absence of the disease, and a list of family planning clinics located in the county or city of the issuing office. Such lists and information shall be furnished by the Virginia State Department of Health.

§ 32.1-69.1:1. Dissemination of information regarding birth defects.

The Commissioner, with the assistance of the advisory committee, shall develop a publication concerning birth defects for distribution to physicians, hospitals and other medical facilities, and local health departments for use with patients. Such information shall also be provided to the clerks of county and city circuit courts for inclusion in health information required to be furnished to applicants for marriage licenses, pursuant to § 20-14.2.
