HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 869
Commending Clark L. and Mary Jane Glass.

WHEREAS, Clark L. and Mary Jane Glass, residents of Culpeper, have for many years contributed to the betterment of their community; and

WHEREAS, Clark L. Glass, Culpeper County’s treasurer for 24 years, is a past president of the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia and has been named Treasurer of the Year and recipient of the Commonwealth Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award; and

WHEREAS, through his work with the University of Virginia’s Curriculum Committee for Continuing Education and the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia, Clark L. Glass has contributed to improving the education of Virginia’s treasurers; and

WHEREAS, Clark L. Glass has been charter president of the Culpeper Dawn Lions Club, is past president of the Culpeper Host Lions Club, and has served as cabinet secretary and treasurer of District 24-A of Lions International; and

WHEREAS, active in the United Way, Clark L. Glass has served as chairman of the Piedmont United Way and as past director and campaign chairman; and

WHEREAS, a former member of the Culpeper Town Council, Mary Jane Glass has served as chairman of the Finance Committee, vice mayor, and member of the Virginia Municipal League Legislative Committee; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jane Glass is a former member and chairman of the Town of Culpeper Planning Commission; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Temple University and the University of Virginia, Mary Jane Glass is a former guidance counselor for the Culpeper County school system; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jane Glass is currently the president of the Culpeper Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she volunteers in admissions and the emergency room, having logged more than 4,500 hours of service to date; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jane Glass is a life member of the Virginia Education Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and the University of Virginia Alumni Association and serves as membership chairman of the Culpeper ’92 Lions Club and as charter president of the Culpeper Lioness Club; and

WHEREAS, Clark L. and Mary Jane Glass, through their combined efforts, have compiled a peerless record of public and community service to benefit the citizens of Culpeper County and the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Clark L. and Mary Jane Glass for their exceptional dedication to the welfare of the Culpeper community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Clark L. and Mary Jane Glass as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for their long and meritorious record of service to their community.
